Salamanca Place
Salamanca Place has taken its name after the battle of Salamanca was fought in 1812. It was constructed between 1835 and 1860. It is a busy street of attractive warehouses now taken up by restaurants and pubs, historic merchants and keepsake shops.
Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery
Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery has a fine compilation of landscape paintings, together with natural history and humanities gatherings. Admission is free however there can be charges for special exhibitions.
The Tasmanian Maritime Museum
The Tasmanian Maritime Museum is located on Secheron Road. It covers Secheron House, constructed in 1831 for George Frankland, surveyor-general of the colony. It shows a excellent sight of the bay. At indoors is a good gathering of maritime artifacts showing Tasmania's close links with the sea.
